Manchester Foyer & DSGi DIY Day

Now this was the first joint DIY Team Challenge for everyone to inspire to. DSGi who are one of our corporate partners took time out from work to re-decorate Manchester Foyer’s counseling room, which was in need so some tender loving care, and that’s what the guys from DSGi Business and two residents Colin and Ben. It was a pretty big job but with a fabulous team leader who was extremely organized, managed to complete the project before dinner. Lorri Harding who works endlessly to engage the residents in everything the Foyer does, used the word marvelous to describe the day. And informed me there was some tears shed as they have longed to have the room re-decorated for a long time. Andrew Parker (DSGi) who project managed the day said it was “a really 'changing rooms' experience” which was appreciated by staff and enjoyed by residents. Not only have Manchester Foyer received a peaceful new counseling room but have also gained a great relationship which includes possible work placements for some residents interested in Business.

“They came to the foyer to help us paint the counseling room. They took time off work to help to paint the room. I helped to paint the room and it was a great chance for me to meet new people and understand how paint. They were really friendly and I really enjoyed working with them. Thanks you guys for taking the time to come and paint our room.

So all in all a job well done and a great relationship to start.
