Based on the '101 Things To Do Before You Die' book by Richard Horne, we've decided to create our 101 things to do.jpgown list for '101 Things To Do Before You Leave Your Foyer'.

As you can see, we don't have 101 Things yet, so we need your help. Please leave your suggestions as comments here, or email me at garmon@foyer.net. The list can include funny things ('Make up 101 excuses why you were late to your keyworking session') as well as more serious issues (like 'go on training course').

We don't know what we'll do with this list yet, but at least it's a bit of fun for now... and it might even get published at some point!

Masters degree funding?

A masters degree is usually referred to as a  MSc and MA, masters in a science or art related disciple. The period of full-time study required is one year and two years on a part-time basis.

There are entrance requirements though:

All applicants for a Masters degree must have a first  degree in any subject, although some MA's for example will require a first degree or a 2.1 degree, and a number of years work experience. Specific requirements will differ on the chosen  course and  institution.

The most important thing of all is the funding.
It is, therefore,  crucial that you investigate every possible sourceand make sure that you are fully aware of dates, deadlines and eligibility criteria. By arming yourself with the right information at the outset, you increase your chances of success.

Where do you find out more?

Your University careers service should be your first port of call but you should also try to talk to current postgraduate students and find out how they fund themselves.

Ask the course provider how the students in their departments are supported and whether there is any institutional support available. Consult the welfare office at the students' union and find out from the University itself about Access Funds and hardship schemes.

Good Luck!

Try Yoga

Yoga!

Fancy some philosophical challenges? Guess what! There is no harm trying out new stuffs.

Have you ever  wondered whether Yoga can help releasing physical and emotional pressures?

Well, it is certanily still debatable as to what role plays in health matters, and because there is no scientific evidence as yet.  But many Yogists still claim that it is the most effecient way to rid the pressure.

What does Yoga has to do young people anyway?

According to the Yoga Journal ( see: www.yougajournal.com), wityh yoga people learn how to love, to control themselves, to live ethically, and most importantly it teaches young people the disciplice which is much needed in today's society.

Feel depressed, demoralized, and demotivated with daily pressure from the school, the college, the workplace?  Why not check on your local area and see what they offer? Worth trying!

Achieve World Peace

peace.jpgHave you always thought of the ways peace can be achieved?

So many times, young people hear world leaders, politicians and policy-makers using the word "the future for tomorrow". In all, this to mean that young people are the generation to come and they ignore that the future doesn't start tomorrow but now/today.

What should be the role then the role for young people?

Simply, to get peace we need to focus on killers and we can go about it by getting political and active in the community. Start by lobbying the MPs so that they can influence the decision-making machine in the White Hall as well as in the House of Commons.

Once our leaders are listening to the voice of the youth and the general public, it is unlikely that the major nations such as the UK and others will fail to influence the world.

The ultimate results should be the following:

  - the United Nations' role be definitely  to remove  repressive regimes that don't respect the value of human lives, and preferably this should be done by no violent means.

- the plans to call the elimination of government's to kill in any situation, unless unavoidably necessary for the protection of lives or national borders.

Then, to have world peace, young people need to be activists, writers on the local newspapers on the issues of war prevention in order to keep the Government on a peaceful track.

Sell some art

If you think you’ve got a talent for painting or drawing then use your talent and get your first picture sold at an art gallery. You could even organise your own art exhibition with other Foyers and get artists to come along and chose their favourite pieces.
